Songs of Our Youth: Smetana and Tchaikovsky and Chamber Music by Haydn, Bruch, and Vaughan Williams

  • First Congregational Church of Los Angeles 540 South Commonwealth Avenue Los Angeles, CA, 90005 United States (map)

The Glendale Youth Symphony performs their annual Spring concert while also showcasing chamber groups within the orchestra.

The Moldau, Mozart, Romeo and Juliet, and a special harp concertato all have one thing in common among their beauty, youthfulness. This concert is a special one for me because for me, it reminds us of the trait of youthfulness that we sometimes lose throughout the hardships of life. The vibrancy, hopefulness, and energy often associated with our childhoods is lost in the midst of the daily life.

The music of this concert, performed by our wonderful student musicians, is programmed in such a way that by the end of the concert, we might leave feeling more vibrant and hopeful than before!

Program includes:

Romeo and Juliet by Tchaikovsky

The Moldau by Smetana

Espérance by Catherine McMichael

Appalachian Morning by Robert Sheldon
